Welcome to the speech room! I hope this site gives you a glimpse into what your student might be doing in speech. Contrary to popular belief, we work on much more than just speech sounds! Some students practice forming sentences, while others learn to listen and comprehend what they hear. We also practice social skills (e.g. taking turns in conversation), vocabulary, asking/answering questions, and a variety of other skills related to speech and language. The notebooks pictured below each have visual supports to help students learn and practice new skills. Feel free to explore the parent resources to find out more about these skills, and why they're so important!
This year's building theme is "Around the World". Speech students will have the opportunity to compare/contrast India's culture with our traditions in the United States. Some will also get to help ask and answer the questions of a pen pal from Northern India.
