As a culminating task to their 5 Senses study, Ms. Watson's kindergarteners used their 5 senses to explore popcorn. During their unit they learned about their 5 senses, how their senses keep them safe, about Ray Charles and Helen Keller.
They decided popcorn kernels felt smooth, were small, light, and sounded like rain when hitting their desks. Once popped it was bumpy, much larger but still lightweight, smelled yummy, and like butter. They enjoyed listening to it pop in the microwave. Most importantly it tasted like buttery popcorn and was yummy.
